Description
While searching for some gigantic red fir trees seen from the road, Claire found she had to cross private land owned by a sawmill to get to them. As no one was around she began to quickly record the woodland she was in as the autumn colours were vivid that day and glowed in the blue English light. There is now a series of six drawings made plein air. Cawston is a drawing on naturally coloured paper made using pastel pencils, coloured pencils and graphite. The underlying natural paper colour breaks through the pastels. Claire was inspired to focus on the colours of the firs which lined a track leading through the woods. The colour of the blue needles intensified against the pale sky creating an aura around their silhouette. Professionally framed.
