Ernest Hemingway’s House

Clare an International mixed media artist is known for her canvases of London and Singapore. After a trip to Florida in 2017 Clare visited the home of American Author Ernest Hemingway in Key West, part of the Florida Keys. Clare was inspired to paint this house as it has some similarities to her paintings of Singapore Shophouses with the decorative and painted window shutters and decorative ironwork railings This attractive house with yellow green painted wooden window shutters has a large verandah which you can walk around looking down on to the green and tropical garden below. To the side of this house is a separate studio, the writing space of this famous author. The house is also famous for its 6-toed feline residents. This painting is executed in the artists trademark mixed media style combining acrylic paint, mono print and hand drawn text. For some of the foliage Clare works with a handcut stencil to print in the leaves of the trees and plants.
