About Organic Wreaths: Inspired by organic cells, celestial structures, coral reefs and woodland, the artist uses ink and collage techniques to imitate and amplify nature. The aim is to create visual elements that have a natural aesthetic and quality. Due to the characteristics of materials used, the process of making is very fluid and alive; the resulting ink elements are partly calculation and partly chance. Just like in nature, every element is unique and cannot be repeated. Cutouts, made alongside the ink elements, both echo and contrast them. The resulting effect highlights disparity between natural and artificial, valuable and hollow, existence and extinction, having and loosing. About the creative process, in the artist’s own words: « I create ink elements with natural-looking textures and patterns. I arrange the ink elements in a wreath because all its elements are interconnected, just like in nature. I make a cutout that echoes the wreath in shape but contrasts it in substance: while the wreath exists, the cutout is just a void. This is an allusion to the fact that nature is delicate and it disappears, leaving only a shadow of memory behind. The wreath may also be seen as a tribute to something that is not going to be around forever, a reminder to treasure it now. The resulting work always changes: depending on the lighting, the shadows cast by the cut-out change throughout the day ».
