Clare became fascinated by this flower after living close to the Botanic Gardens in Singapore and regularly visiting favourite areas within the gardens particularly the ginger garden and the healing garden. Clare visited the gardens to watch the early morning tai chi and to sketch, these sketches led to a series of paintings on canvas on Gingerlilies.
