Description
This is based on the same shadow used in the Mark series – a shadow that was falling onto some steps outside a house in Dallas. (In the Mark series, the shadow was turned on its side) The shadow in this painting flattens the surface, and the negative space around it is the only part recognisable as steps, though due to this flattening, they are read in a more abstract way.
